3 AP's (One for the caster, one for my father, and one for myself)

Melted down metals from my grandmother's ninety-four year old metal collection, cast into the shape of a rough pebble that I found on her veranda after she passed away.

 

After my paternal grandmother's passing, it was time to clear out her apartment in Basel; a hodgepodge of objects charged with memory, meaning and history. My attention was drawn to a piece of rock lying solitarily on her terrace. As well as the collection of various decorative metal objects typical for Basel; copper reliefs, pewter cups, bronze figurines....
This metal collection, more than 90 years old, has been cast in an edition of three metal sculptures in close collaboration with the bell founder Raphaël Schmid.

Nach dem Tod meiner Grossmutter väterlicherseits galt es ihre Wohnung in Basel zu räumen; ein Sammelsurium mit Erinnerung, Bedeutung und Geschichte aufgeladener Objekte. Meine Aufmerksam galt einem Gesteinsbrocken, der einsam auf ihrer Veranda lag. Sowie der typisch Baslerischen Ansammlung unterschiedlicher der Dekoration dienender Metallobjekte; Kupferreliefs, Zinnbecher, Bronzefigurinen...
Diese über 90 Jahre alte Metallsammlung wurde in enger Zusammenarbeit mit dem Glockengiesser Raphaël Schmid in eine Edition von drei Metallskulpturen gegossen.
